Invt High Voltage Inverter Power Unit Power Module
In modern industrial drive systems, the INVT High Voltage Inverter Power Unit Power Module serves as the fundamental building block for high voltage variable frequency drives (VFDs), particularly in the GD5000 series and similar platforms. This component is critical for applications in mining, metallurgy, and power generation, where motor control reliability is paramount.
Utilizing a cell-unit cascade topology, INVT overcomes the voltage limitations of standard semiconductors by stacking multiple low-voltage modules in series. Each Power Module acts as an independent single-phase inverter. It receives AC power from a phase-shifting transformer, rectifies and filters it into DC via internal capacitors, and finally inverts it back to AC with precise pulse-width modulation (PWM). When multiple modules are cascaded, they produce a high-voltage output with exceptionally low harmonic distortion.

The modules feature a drawer-type mechanical structure. If a single unit fails, the drive can automatically bypass it, allowing the system to continue operating at reduced capacity (typically 90-95%) without halting production. Technicians can replace the faulty module quickly without disconnecting main power cables, drastically reducing mean time to repair (MTTR).
Thermal stress is the primary cause of power electronic failure. INVT equips these modules with optimized heatsinks and forced air cooling to ensure even heat distribution across the IGBTs and rectifiers. Independent thermal monitoring allows the control system to manage cooling proactively, extending the lifespan of the semiconductors and DC bus capacitors.
Control signals are transmitted to the module via fiber optic cables. This ensures complete electrical isolation between the high-voltage power section and the low-voltage control circuitry, enhancing technician safety and providing immunity to electromagnetic interference.

For maintenance teams, the standardization of these modules is a significant benefit. A single spare module can serve multiple drives across a facility, simplifying inventory management.
These modules are designed for demanding environments, including:
Mining : Conveyor belts and slurry pumps.
Metallurgy : Rolling mills and blowers.
Power : ID/FD fans and feedwater pumps.

The INVT High Voltage Inverter Power Unit Power Module combines rugged IGBT technology, intelligent thermal management, and user-friendly modularity. For industrial operations, it ensures that high voltage motor control remains reliable, maintainable, and efficient, minimizing costly unplanned downtime.
